Bagels, Beans and Bargains

by snackface on November 9, 2010 · 31 comments

Hello, loves! I hope your week is off to a great start!

My Monday started casually with a blog post and a bagel.

Bagel! One side with Fage, stevia and cinnamon, and the other with pumpkin butter.

Nothing is as good as a little bagel right now. These actually are little. They are palm-sized!

I did a little more social media-izing and then geared up for a walk around the lake.

How could I not choose this over the gym?

This almost looks tropical. Emphasis on almost.

I stuck to solely walking. Why aren’t more people happy with simply walking for exercise? I even worked up a sweat! I completed 4.4 miles in just over an hour. It was an interesting walk, complete with rap, exciting news exchanges, tweeting and dodging goose poop.

Back at home, I showered and ate a quick lunch.

I kept things classy and ate my lunch out of a plastic bag.

A definite case of, "It tastes better than it looks."

I also dressed for southern Ohio’s 70* temperatures. How bizarre! I let my legs breathe and went for shorts.

About to go sailing in the Mediterranean. H+M striped shirt, Forever21 shorts.

Chic patent Calvin Klein flats and my veiny feet.

And for when I got chilly:

Norma Kamali for Walmart jacket.

Stripes in all directions!

I would like to break down this outfit for you by cost and by the seasons in which I bought them/received them as gifts:

H+M shirt- Purchased: September 2010. Cost: $14.
Forever21 shorts- Purchased: March 2010. Cost: $13.
Norma Kamali jacket- Gifted: December 2009. Cost: $13.
Calvin Klein shoes- Gifted: December 2009. Cost: No clue.

Sometimes I get really bogged down by cost of things I want and see in J.Crew/ Nordstrom/ any shop in San Francisco and New York. Instead of letting it stop me from getting the look I want, I search for the desired pieces in stores I can afford, thus collecting for years. I know there are copyright issues with cheaper stores and their designs, but I’m doing what I can with what I have.

And sometimes I get bogged down by bad hair days, so I just throw on a headband and hope for the best. Nothing should stop you from being Full Time Fabulous! Seriously!

I spent my evening downtown with some of my closest friends. We did the usual: chat, catch up on one another’s lives, plan joint birthday celebrations. The weekend of November 20 better be prepared.

At 6:30 p.m. I drove back to my neck of the woods. It was pitch black outside. Depression may sweep over my sun-loving body any day now.

In an attempt to brighten up the night, I made a new-to-me dinner. Green bean fries and roasted chickpeas. Sounded simple enough. Somehow I messed it up.

Don't let the appearance fool you. Those green beans were soggy!

Anything but crunchy.

Apparently roasting these at 400* for 25 minutes was not enough. I prefer green beans totally raw, and to see them like this was just so sad. All wilty and pathetic.

My appetite has been absent lately. I’m not sure why! I’ve been feeling very anxious, which distracts me from any hunger. In addition to what’s pictured, I also had dried mango (my obscene obsession) and a mug of ice cream. But it has been an effort to eat even that. I’m hoping this goes away ASAP.

Anyway kidlets, I’m signing off! I’m not at my chattiest today. Lo siento!

Ciao for now,

Kailey

I walk all the time –with a 75lb golden retriever. Honestly, I’m not really a cardio girl. I walk Q, do my Pilates, and Yoga, and call it a “fitness routine.”

If you’re talking straight calories in – calories out, its really the distance that makes the difference, not the speed!

Love the outfit breakdown information!

I love going for walks as exercise. It’s a great way to chat and catch up while getting a work-out to boot!

As for losing my appetite, it never happens! I’m a stress-eater, and when I’m anxious I tend to eat more!

LOVE your outfit! :)

Stress makes me lose my appetite, or enhances it A LOT. It’s kind of strange!

Damn…your 4.4 mile walk in an hour is almost as fast as my ‘running’. No wonder it’s a workout…you must be powering around that lake!

Love the multi-directional stripes you’ve got going on.

Where do you get those bagels from? They look so doughy and delish

Sana- I’ll post a picture of the bag tomorrow, but I found them at Kroger! They are super doughy!

I love taking walks! I live in a very walkable neighbourhood, so I try and walk wherever I can. So many people drive everywhere all the time, even if it’s only like a 10 minute walk away.

My appetite has been very strange lately. Yesterday I was not really hungry at all, but today, I’m a hungry beast!!!

I love walking for exercise if it’s nice out!! Buuuuut I’m kind of a huge baby when it gets the least bit cold, so it’s not really a dependable form of exercise for me haha. My dad climbed Kilimanjaro at 60 using only walking to train though.

With clothes, I tend towards the classic, so I don’t mind splurging. Good jeans and timeless sweaters are worth the investment!! For trendier stuff though, it’s F21 all the way. Love it.

I really love to walk as a workout – unfortunately I’m stuck at a desk all day for work, so if I can get out for 30 minutes over lunch to “run errands”, get some sunshine/fresh air and move my legs – I am a happy girl!!

Walking! So simple, yet so satisfying. I discovered its joy when I received a sprained ankle from a rugby game and made the grim realization that I couldn’t run for a couple of months. I got through the period by walking with intervals: two minutes of power walking (a.k.a. looking like a complete doofus, swinging arms and arms) followed by three minutes of brisk walking. With Girl Talk as the soundtrack, it felt pretty awesome. And it still is! Yay walking!

I walk around campus a lot, which I definitely consider my exercise on some days!

I adore that outfit! I wanted to buy a pair of shorts like those but I’m way too short to pull them off. You totally rock them though. ;)

I love H&M and Forever 21 for cheap pieces! I do spend more if it’s something I know I’ll wear for a few years, like dresses and shoes.

I love walking for exercise- it can be so calming. I’m kinda known for being a crazy speed walker though so I really do get a workout. My family & friends all tease me about my speedy pace since it doesn’t just pertain to exercise but is just how I walk all the time. I’m a go-go-go kinda girl, what can I say ;-)
