24 Hours

by snackface on July 17, 2011 · 39 comments

A lot or a little can happen in 24 hours. For this chiquita, not too much has happened, as I’ve been feeling under the weather.

That’s a euphemism for: “for seven days straight I’ve had a damn headache and earache and I can’t figure out how the hell to get rid of it.” But that’s not very eloquent, is it?

I’ve kept to myself this weekend so as to save others from my hideous mood. Only you, my dear friends, get an exclusive look into what I’ve been up to. And by that I mostly mean eating and drinking.

Saturday, 8 p.m.

Pasta with parmiggiano + whole grain bread and Earth Balance, the most substantial meal of those you're about to view.

Sunday, 12 p.m.: The streak of sleeping nearly 12 hours per night continued.

Peanut butter Puffins, banana, almond milk.

Peanut in a pillow tent. I think she liked it.

Sunday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Tons of shopping. Little purchased other than gifts and food for the week. For some unbeknownst reason, I had zero appetite for most of the day. Illness and heat, maybe?

Green Machine for drinkable nutrients, featured in Forever21. Does anyone else feel as though Forever21 clothes are made for people who are 5'3" and less than 100 lbs.?

Guava kombucha tastes like apple cider vinegar and vitamins. Still drank all of it!

Sunday, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Wrote a draft for a work assignment. I know, I know. Some writing is done better away from the office, though!

Sunday, 7:30 p.m.

Vegetable gyoza, gyoza dipping sauce, greens with balsamic dressing and mozzarella.

Sunday, 8 p.m.

Sea salt chocolate that's lasted me a couple weeks now with a side of Hello, Dolly!

I’m having a major Babz weekend. Currently, I’m watching her as Patti Stagner in the turn of the 20th century. Saturday, I watched the dazzling Funny Girl. It may be one of my top 10 favorite films. Seriously. Although, I couldn’t help but be distracted by the juxtaposition of 1960′s hair and makeup with early 1900′s costume, and later, 1960′s hair and makeup with 1920′s costume. And it was only Fanny who had that issue. The men’s costume and makeup were true to time. ANYWAY. It doesn’t matter. It’s a masterpiece.

After this sleepy weekend, I’m prepared for a busy week ahead. I hope you all had a fab time!

Ciao for now,

Kailey

One adjective (sometimes an adverb!): Leisurely. The way a good weekend should be.

I hope you feel better! They say that sea salt chocolate heals all. Well, I say that. It has to be true.

My weekend can be described in one word: HILARIOUS! I saw Horrible Bosses and just about peed my pants!

spontaneous. I had very little say in how things went down this weekend, and while a few little things set me back (a dead car battery one morning), I just went with it and had a pretty amazing time. sometimes it’s really annoying to have to deal with the schedules of my family members, but with all of the craziness there is a lot of real, genuine laughter.

I hope you feel better soon!

I’m sorry to hear about your headachey, earachey weekend, chica! Could it be sinuses? It seems like sinuses are at the root of all head ailments.

My dog does the pillow tent thing, too! What is it with furry friends and fluffy fortresses?

And yes, Forever 21 clothes (ESPECIALLY the pants – yikes!) are made for 5’3”, 100-lb people. By that, I mean 13-year-olds. Should 13-year-olds be wearing half-corsets and bandaeu skirts? No. I guess that’s beside the point?

An adjective that defines my weekend…indulgent. Food, drinks (Friday night teetered on the side of excessive…and fell over), sun (no sunscreen, oops), sweating (hot yoga) and relaxation were served up in ample portions. Whatyagonnado?

Here’s to Monday? I hope you wake up feeling better tomorrow, boo!

One adjective… Calm:)

Feel better soon! I haven’t shopped at Forever 21 in ages…I keep reading about all the lawsuits they’re getting into for copying designers, plus everything I’ve ever owned from there has ripped/broken/been deemed unwearable after the first try- oh and ps I am 5’2 and pretty small framed but the clothes NEVER fit me properly- they always look like they will on the hanger then don’t. Haha I hope I don’t sound like an F21 Haterrr
Anyways this weekend was very…spicy

Peanut’s what you call a real pillow pet ;)
I hope you’re feeling better. Your eats look great!
The 20′s and 60′s are my favourite style eras and they do mix wonderfully, even if its cause for an uncohesive film. What are your favourite eras?

I can’t even think of just one word. Let’s try an inventory: food, drinks, dance, babysitting, sunshine, sweat, and man candy. Yezzerp.

So sorry to hear that you’re under the weather. Sometimes a weekend of rest and relaxation can do you so much good, though!

My weekend has been… busy! My boyfriend flew in to visit on Thursday and it’s been go go go ever since then. So much to see and do! Loving it :)

Aw man…F21 clothes have no consistency with sizing, guess it’s the price to pay for cute and cheap clothes. I’m 5’3 and very petite, and sometimes their smalls are huge, or they are so tiny it would be amazing if a 12 year old could fit into them.

17 Tasha @ Voracious Eats July 18, 2011 at 9:05 am

I NEEEED some of that dark chocolate with sea salt. We can get Lindt over here, but not that variety. I love my sweets with a hit of salt, and that looks perfect.

I totally hear you about stores making clothes to fit only the most petite ladies. I’m 5’9 and slender, and nothing is ever long enough for me, and if it is I’m swimming in it! That’s why I just stick with sun dresses, they look good pretty much no matter what. :-)

I just posted something I think might resonate with you, Kailey. You are outspoken on the topic of loving your body and having confidence no matter what, health at every size, etc and I just republished my FAT RANT from last year and though you would enjoy it.

Man, I am SUCH a B. Streisand fan! I know a lot of people dislike her because of her personal politics, but when you push that aside – along with her vanity and long fingernails – she has such a killer voice! I especially like her albums from the 60s. Her voice is so sharp and pure it gives me chills. Hello Dolly! is one of my favorites, along with Yentl…mostly because of that cutie-patootie Mandy Patinkin!

Kendall- OK, seriously, what is up with the claw-like nails? Did she do nothing with her hands, because I’d break those in a minute! I try to ignore them… hahaha! She’s one of the greatest talents of all time, though!

Hahah the claw nails. I SO know what you’re talking about. And her skin always looks kind of…golden. In Hello, Dolly anyway!

My weekend was stressful. I worked Fri-Sun and had to get a lot done in a limited time frame. The highlight of it was lounging in our new pool.
I eat a lot of the same foods as you when I’m sick. I don’t normally love the taste of Green Machine but it does a great job of replenishing lost nutrients. I have a love/hate relationship with F21. I love their clothes but hate that I can’t fit into 80% of them. The only things I can buy are tops, maxidresses and accessories. Everything else comes up short:( It would be great if they came out with a tall line like other chains.

ughhhh don’t get me started on forver21 dresses. I feel like every time I get excited about a dress, I put it on only to find that it barely covers by butt..and by barely covers, I mean pretty damn indecent.
Hope you feel better!!

Yep, I feel the same way about Forever 21. I’m cool with the 5’3 thing (I can wear shirts from there as dresses. It’s awesome). Not so cool with the 100 lbs thing. Eh, 50/50 isn’t so bad!

I’ve been feeling super blech this week too, it sucks! Headaches and sore muscles for days now :/ I’m really, really hoping this goes away soon, I have things do do, haha!
And I feel you with Forever 21. I have a shirt from there where I’m a medium and it fits great, but 99% of the time it’s way to short, weirdly cut and the sizes are tiny! I’m not an XL in any other store, but sometimes the XL in Forever 21 is a little tight. And then with the next piece of clothing, the L is too big. WTF.

Forever 21 is ridiculous…Im 5’6 and most of their dresses are really risky to wear on a windy day!!

Reply

Oh good old F21- I’m 5’3″. In their pants- the length is right for me, but so many other things aren’t right, and the skirts and dresses are embarrassingly short. Most other clothes are the right height/length, but the proportions are so strange!

I think they’re designing for 5’3″ teenagers who don’t mind showing a lot of leg, but also seem to have disproportionately large rear ends and narrow waists – haha not me!
