NYE Weekend, Censored

by snackface on January 2, 2012 · 37 comments

Hi hi hi! HAPPY 2012!!! I cannot tell you how relieved I am to start anew in 2012. I’m not too into resolutions, as I believe you can change something whenever you want. For some of the aspects in my life that I want to change, I already started in December. I was ready to let go of 2011 like no other year before because I have a feeling that 2012 (an even year, thank goodness) is going to be just that fab.

To celebrate the passing of a year, I headed to Athens and spent three days with the one I love. Now that it gets dark so early and the area surrounding Athens is infested with deer, I spend even less time with DM when I visit. As in, less than 48 hours because I’d like to avoid running into an animal that reminds me of my dogs. This past weekend was the most amount of time we’ve spent with each other in…I don’t even know!

Friday, I arrived in town by 5:30 p.m. After explaining that I forgot my camera (AHHH I was so mad at myself!) and I needed to take over DM’s (oh and after mushy, lovey greetings), we celebrated our belated Christmas.

Boots for her, boots for him.

Sperrys v. Sorels.

Gifts exchanged, we got ready to go out for a couple brews with one of my babes!

I drank this beautiful cider while putting on my face and doing my hurr. The packaging is obviously what sucked me in.

Banana and I reunited over Yuenglings and Hot Nuts (shots of coffee and Frangelico? I could be wrong).

Cutie.

U + Me = Us (I know my calculus)

(Here’s a link to the song for those who are too young to remember/know 2gether. You’re welcome.)

One round of brews led to another… and then another while we waited for our late-night pizza.

Something Sam Adams.

Saturday morning, DM and I wanted to be kind to our livers, so we drove to Kroger for a major fruit and veggie purchase. We circled the store at least three times and waited in line for 10-15 minutes to check out. This is what happens when students return after break. How did I forget?

We returned to the house and juiced! Such a bonding experience.

All mine!

Also all mine. But more importantly, helping me with the juicer.

Incredibly delicious! And genuinely filling.

We sipped the green stuff, chatted with his family, and I adored this very sunshiny rose.

We are cheesy. I try to hide this as much as possible so as to avoid making you gag.

I spent the afternoon showering and primping. I never like to feel rushed, so I start getting ready for things much earlier than anyone should. This is also why I get up for work at 6:20 a.m. and don’t arrive until 8:30 – 9 a.m.

New Year’s Eve itself was everything I could hope for: fun, filled with seeing tons of friends (who aren’t pictured here for privacy reasons) and slightly debaucherous. Basically, a nice mix of keeping it together and making an a$$ of myself. This is why pictures were taken only within the first hour of going out. It’s how you have to do it. Below is a very censored version of the evening!

Girls bein' girls. (Fighting every urge in me to correct that for AP style...we are women.)

Backs and sequins.

Happiness.

Gold Solo cups should be a year-round thing.

My first two days of 2012 have been opposites. Sunday was beyond relaxing, and Monday was full of stress. Three hours in the snow is the least ideal driving situation for me. But I’m now safely in Cincinnati, trying to mentally prepare for work.

New year, welcome. I embrace you fully. May you be filled with pure joy and goodness…that may or may not need censoring.

Ciao for now,

Kailey

Question: How was your NYE? Love or loathe the holiday? I love NYE, but it’s mostly because I love an excuse to dress up.

My NYE was really fun! I kept it low-key this year since I experienced Times Square last year and almost died (a bit dramatic, but it was a nightmare!). Getting dressed up is the best part!

How cute are you twoooo! Esp. the rose. Not cheesy. Don’t worry, I’m not gagging.

As the college boys would say “yuengling is for old men” — well that’s debateable.

I go to OSU and the grocery store was crazy today with everyone back on campus! I like NYE in that I get to dress up and hit the bars with my friends, but I hate it bc I’m single and it reminds me I have no New Years Kiss…unless you count creepers that I could have kissed haha.

I had my first Yuengling on NYE since they came to Ohio which was fun! Looks like you had a fun NYE :)

You and your man are adorable. I love that he drinks green juices with you! And that you have matching(ish) boots. So cute!
It sounds like you ended 2011 and started 2012 in style. I wouldn’t expect anything less! Your dress is absolute perfection. (:

I am so glad you had a fun New Year’s Eve in Athens! I am also very happy that I got to see you in person!

I, like you, love using NYE as an excuse to get snazzy. It is definitely one of my favorite holidays!

And you’re not alone, I start getting ready for things way in advance, too. Being rushed makes me testy.

Happy New Year!

Ah you are so naturally beautiful!

I’m in an LDR as well…it’s rough, but it’s clear you’re doing a wonderful job. It’s inspiring!

Also, gold Solo cups… never seen one before but that is wonderful and I want one. So classy ;)

I love your NYE dress! Where is it from? I admit I stayed in for NYE this year and went to bed early- to be fair I went a bit all out the night before, but my mom is in town so I figured I’d ring in the new year with her.

Ug. Hate long distance. I had two Mondays in a row off (Market Holidays – woo woo) and it was luxurious to spend two three-day weekends in a row together. :)

LOVE your dress. Haha – it was worth the wait to see the whole thing in all its glory! :)

Finding taxis on NYE in San Francisco is my LEAST favorite thing in the world. Ever. So we decided to spend the night in – champagne, party hats & just the two of us. Perfection! (Meaning I was in footie PJs rather than a fabulous LBD – ah, the sacrifices we make for love. ha!)

duck boots! i love the cobalt pants! great color, i just picked up the j crew 3″ chino shorts in that hue love em :) i got a juicer just after xmas and have been having some every day…it’s addicting! i save the pulp and make crackers with some flaxseed, curry + salt n pepper pretty tasty and far cheaper than mary’s (as good as the gone raw crackers happen to be..not worth the $$). glad you made it back safely! i love the back of the dress…i’m a sucker for any extra interesting detail on the LBD! i love nye but i honestly never travel too far from home since i fear the drunks!

You and your friend had fabulous NYE dresses! Looks and sounds like y’all had an awesome NYE celebration weekend :D

My Dear and I went to dinner with my momma and had a fabulous Italian feast [think I was more stuffed that night than Thanksgiving or Christmas?!]. We ended up going back to my momma’s after and decided against our original plans of heading into the city [DC] to meet up with friends, keeping it low-key in our PJ’s on the couch sounded much more enticing… My sequin dress wasn’t put to use but it ultimately was exactly what I wanted! And I didn’t wake up regretting any of my decisions [haha!]…

Sounds like you had a great NYE with your bestie and your man! The perfect combo! You rocked that NYE dress too- you look amazing!! I had a great NYE with my best friends but it’s not really my favorite holiday. I feel like there is so much pressure for it to be perfect and that kind of stresses me out. But this year, I just focused on having a fun night and not the “best night ever” and it was great!

29 Janine @ThePurpleGiraffe January 3, 2012 at 4:02 pm

We dressed DOWN this NYE, had a feetie pajama party! 15 people, no duplicate PJ’s, pretty impressive. It was a lot of fun, but now I’m still ready for a nap.

YOUR HAIR in the picture of DM kissing your cheek. It looks like touchable waves of gold.

Creeper status.

I kind of hate NYE, mostly because I’ve never had a great one. I think it was Hugh Hefner who once said that it’s the amateur night, and he’d rather go out the other 364 days of the year. Wise man.
