Hip Hop Happy Friday: Muffin Mix

Gooood MORNING! Guess where I am?

OK I won’t make you guess. I’m in Williamsburg with my best friend in the whole world! MUFFIN! To celebrate what is sure to be an amazing weekend ahead of us, I’ve thrown together a hip hop happy friday mix fit for Muffin and me. Most of these songs are from years 2006-2010, the time we spent together in college… This will be evident by the caliber of the lyrics. ENJOY!

Bed by J. Holiday- We sang this “love” song to each other frequently. “Workin’ that 9 to 5 and stayin’ cute like ya do, do, do, do…”

Lollipop by Lil’ Wayne- At the end of our sophomore year, Muffin and I walked to check out our houses for the next year. Along the way, we fully dissected the lyrics and how it could be interpreted based on the spelling of wrapper/rapper.

Tie Me Down by New Boyz- We were only tied to each other for a long time!

I Wanna Be Bad by Willa Ford- Come on. Just hysterical. We sang to this while getting ready for nights out…which is the duty all these songs had.

Wife Beater by Young Money- Worst song title in the world. We refer to it as “T-shirt with no panties on” and “heart pump red bull.” It’s one of the most hilarious hip hop tracks of all time.

Bossy by Kelis- When Muffin became the editor of our school paper, there was no other song that would do.

Money to Blow by Birdman ft. Drake- I am on a 24-hour champagne diet (true story!).

Poker Face by Lady Gaga- “Bluffin’ with my MUFFIN!”

Diva by Beyonce- Duh.

Mrs. Officer by Lil’ Wayne- We were taken aback by the brilliance of Mr. Wayne’s musical humor.

Sensual Seduction by Snoop Dogg- Muffin raps every single word and it makes me cry with laughter.

Whatever You Like by T.I.- This is honestly “our” song. Forever and ever.

Low by Flo Rida- 1. I wore “boots wit da fur” forever. They were white and obnoxious. There was also a girl we met who danced until: “Shorty got low, low, low, low, OH SH!T SHE’S DOWN!”

I’m off to spend my Williamsburg/NYC weekend with some very special people. Have a fabulous weekend, loves!

Ciao for now,

Kailey

Oooh, Williamsburg is so fun! You guys should go to Alligator Bar; they have good drinks and they give you a free pizza with every order.

Have such a fantastic weekend with your best friend! Omigosh, those songs brought me back to my college days too! I had totally forgotten about “I Wanna Be Bad” — which if you recall was made famous from the What a Girl Wants soundtrack! I definitely vividly remember dancing to that with my girlfriends freshman year in the dorm. Haha thanks for the flashback!
