Partner, Let Me Update You

Hi, kittens! I am on a deadline for something but had to drop in to say, “HI, I MISS YOU!” There are only a few things about which I need to update you, anyway.

1. Today I discovered how to get myself to run, mile after mile, without stopping. How? Wear shorts when it’s below 50*F so that I’m frozen and just want to get back home. It seems as though I forgot two things when I suited up this evening: 1. It was windy. 2. It’s still February. That shining orb in the sky confuses me, mang! I see it after three months of gray and I’m not sure how to handle it! To me, sunshine automatically equals bare legs.

2. My weekend was perfect. A lovely mix of working, relaxing, eating and cocktailing.

My boo and me.

3. After years of grinning and bearing it through a hangover headache, I’ve finally found a real cure. Well, I didn’t find it. It was DM’s parents who imparted wisdom. They said fresh apple+celery juice will cure anything and everything.

We added oranges just for kicks.

4. All-nighters are impossible to pull when you also work anywhere from eight to 10 hours a day. I keep telling myself, “Kailz, you can do this! You stayed up in college!” But what I fail to recognize is that I only had 2 to 5 hours of class a day. And no class on Fridays.

5. My broseph will try to ruin every picture. He was right to do it. No one wants to see another picture of a smoothie.

You already know which finger that is. He's 21. Let's be real.

6. The Girl Scouts are out in full force at Kroger. It’s important to remember that most little girls don’t understand sarcasm yet. It’s best not to mock-heckle them about the prices. Trust me. You will feel like a jackhole…because you are one. (But really, $3.50 for a box?!?! Kidding. I spend more on a box of cereal that lasts me two or three days.)

With that, I’m outie!

Ciao for now,

Kailey

Question: Were you ever a Girl Scout? Tell me more, tell me more! I was in 3rd grade. All I was after: badges. Give me the colorful badges!

**Title inspired by one of the greatest songs of all time. GIT IT, B! (<Watch. It’s too good not to. When she lip syncs Jay’s part…that’s what I look like in my car when rapping.)

Nope, I was never a Girl Scout. I didn’t have any interest in becoming one, but the majority of my friends were Girl Scouts. I do love their cookies, though! Samoas are my absolute favorite (Thin Mints are too boring for me!).

I’m a third-generation Girl Scout- both my mom and her mom were in it- and I have my Gold Award (like the Eagle Award in Boy Scouts, only more is required to earn it). My GS experience seriously had one of the most positive experiences on my life out of anything else I did growing up. I’m 26 and am teaching for the first time at a year-round school…and the day after school gets out at the end of June, I fully intend to fly north to Minnesota (from Louisiana) and work at a GS resident camp where I worked during college. I can’t get enough, seriously!

haaha. I was ALSO a girl scout in 3rd grade (why am I surprised… as we ARE the same person and all?) and all I cared about were the badges AND the prizes for selling a shitton of cookies.

I actually hated girl scouts.

and every time I get sniped by the Girl Scouts at Farm Fresh, I apologetically tell me I have some GS’s in the family. My twin nieces load me up before anyone else can get to me. and then I tell them they’re just gonna hafta deal.

@ yo #6: TOTALLY fell into their cute lil voiced trap, too! The odd thing was is that I was walking into Kroger to buy ingredients to MAKE cookies myself. Ohhh guilty consciences.

…I ate a LOT of cookies this weekend.

Never did the Girl Scout thing, but I’ve definitely supported them over the years thanks to my cookie habit.

Gosh it’s been so long since I’ve made juice. Can’t wait til fruits and veggies are more in season…hopefully that will inspire me :)

Girl Scout cookies are $4 in New York too – you think there’s an urban economics badge they earned for that price inflation?

I was a Girl Scout until 5th grade. being one was really cool where I lived in Maine, but then I moved to Vermont and it was not the thing to do, so I quit. I wish I could say I regretted it but I don’t. plus, I was always really bad at tying knots and my leaders never knew what to do with me.

Sounds like a busy but fun and tasty weekend! I wasn’t a Girl Scout but I was an Indian Princess [and my name was Princess Lily Pad hahaha] :P We did a bunch of the same things except we wore leather vests and minus selling cookies… Whenever I share that little factoid with friends who didn’t grow up in the area they have a good little chuckle because they’ve never have heard of Indian Princesses and think all we did was sleep in tee-pee’s!
