Holla for a dolla, honey boo boos! I am completely in love with all your honest, respectful comments on Wednesday’s post. I really appreciate when we can make observations without being offensive. ANYWAY, let’s move forward and have fun!

I greeted Thursday as I’ve greeted every day this week: with Greek yogurt. This time, a cup of apple cinnamon Chobani chilled in the fridge overnight with 1/4 C rolled oats and 1/4 C water, making a dense, chewy morning mix.

Topped it with crunchy Krema peanut butter in the morning because I can't help it.

The 70-degree weather led me to dress like the long-lost member of Vampire Weekend. I don’t know what it is, but I will always gravitate toward preppy.

Shirt: True Love Shrunken Oxford in Calypso Green from Madewell. Shorts: Gap (circa 2007). Shoes: Sperry.

Work was cool. Aside from the thunderstorms shaking the entire building, threatening to tear it down, everything was just peachy. Writing, researching, social media-ing…the usual!

Muffin (my BFF, of all time, who lives in NYC) had a lot going on today, so we emailed back and forth. OK, let’s be real. We frequently email because we should be living in the same city but we aren’t! Most of my relationships, actually, are long distance. To cope, Muffin and I are in constant contact. Have you ever been emailing and words aren’t enough? Emoticons aren’t enough? And that person simply needs to see the expression on your face? I sometimes (by sometimes I mean not all that often but often enough it might be a “thing”) send my facial expressions along with an email to give the full effect. (I’ve referenced this video twice even though it’s now passé!)

Somewhere between writing and being a dweeb, I had lunch. My new, old favorite lunch. (You know, something you used to love and you bring it back again so it’s like new.)Udi’s gluten-free bread toasted and topped with 1/4 of an avocado, salt, pepper, Frank’s and a fried egg. GAH! Absolutely magical mix of toasty, crunchy, salty, spicy and creamy (I can see you cringing at that word!).

After work, I headed to the gym for my fourth consecutive workout this week. This is rare. Here’s what this week in fitness has looked like thus far:

  • Monday: 4 miles of intervals on elliptical; 20-30 minutes of weights with a focus on biceps and shoulders
  • Tuesday: 5-mile run! I was so proud of myself! I took very few, very brief walk breaks. I do need new shoes, though.
  • Wednesday: 4 miles of intervals on elliptical; 30 minutes of chest and back (most exercises for chest performed while holding a bridge position on stability ball)
  • Thursday: 3 miles of HIIT on the treadmill (2 minutes at incline .5, speed 4.2; 2 minutes at incline 3-4, speed 6.5-7.2); 20 minutes of core (I HAVE to share this routine soon with a video because it’s killa!)
  • Notes: I’m really big on weight training moves that also utilize my core, butt and/or thighs. I rarely do just biceps, for example. That’s usually combined with lunges that go: one (lunge and curl), one-two (lunge and curl for those two counts), one-two-three (lunge and curl for three counts) and so on (ends up being 55 lunges + curls per side).

I honestly don’t know if I’ll work out over the weekend. If I do, awesome. If I don’t, awesome. (I do know there will be a margarita in my hand at some point. It’s clear where my weekend priorities lie.)

Now I’m just hanging out, blogging, watching Grey’s and eating the cutest candy:

Imagine the softest gummy candy with a burst of juice on the inside. The blackberry flavor reminds me of one of my favorite candies, Maynards Wine Gums (which are fabulous and much chewier).

Wow, I clearly had NO theme going into this post! Food, ‘fit, faces, fitness…all in a day’s work!

Ciao for now,

Kailey

Questions:

  • What’s your favorite type and brand of yogurt? I’ve been talking about it so much this week, I might as well ask! Greek and froyo! I don’t eat froyo that often, though.
  • Do you and your BFF live in the same city or separate? How’s that treating you! I can’t tell you how many times we say, “If only I were there right now, we’d totally _____!!!”
  • How often do you exercise? I used to have a strict three-days-a-week-only policy, but that was in college when I was walking miles a day and dancing all night. Now that I sit all day, my body ACHES for movement by the afternoon. Some weeks I make it to the gym twice and sometimes four or five times. The average is probably still three times!

omg. those gummies. ARE.THE.BEST. when you tweeted about craving the gummies the other day, THOSE are what immediately came to mind. Yummmers.

Have you tried ‘Rudi’s’ GF bread? It’s what I get usually, and it’s way cheaper than Udi’s. They have it at Kroger in the frozen aisle of the natural food’s section. It’s only like 3 bucks I think!

Haha no but I thought the same thing! What strange lighting! I’ve been using Jergen’s Gradual Glow but not on my mug. It was all the lighting.

I want to try those gummies!! I love love love Maynard’s – to the point where I eat so many I give myself a stomachache. That’s why I don’t allow myself to buy them very often :)

In terms of yogurt? Greek. Any brand, any flavour. I eat it roughly 3 times a day, and that is most definitely NOT an exaggeration. I put it in everything.

Favorite yogurt is definitely plain wegmans greek! Or chob! Either way I am a plain girl! Love the tang!

My sister is my BFF and sadly she lives all the way across the country…but one day we will DEFINITELY live in the same city! I guarantee it!

This might sound a little bad/offensive, but your clothes have been looking so good on you, and I think it might because you’re a little thinner than you have been in the past. I’m not saying you were too heavy in the past at all, and I’m not even sure if you are technically any thinner than previously? But anyway I’m starting to think that when people are at a really good weight for them their clothes just FIT. Like perfectly. So a huge compliment to you because everything you have been wearing seems to fall just right! It’s definitely motivating me because I feel like if I lose a few pounds my clothes will look THAT much better on me.

Amy, I take this as a compliment! Thank you! It’s interesting because when I was unemployed (summer of 2010 through fall of 2010) I gained a few pounds. Then, as I worked and got into a normal routine, I shed some of that simply from not eating out of boredom all day. So for the past year or so I’ve been at the same weight. HOWEVER, I have been dedicating myself more fully to my workouts since the end of January, and I can see my tummy getting tighter and everything getting more toned. I don’t think I’m thinner, per se, just in better shape! Also, all my clothes are still the same size. I actually have more ass now. Hahaha!

Totally in love with Chobani! My favorite flavors are mango, pineapple, and the new blood orange.

No man at the moment – so no long distance anything going on :(

I try to walk on my treadmill every day – but it ends up being 3-4 times a week before work.

I’ve been eating Chobani for years and I still love it. Fage is also a favorite, though.

I have yet to try those gummies from Trader’s Joes–I didn’t know that they were filled with juice. Definitely getting some next time I’m there!

First, thanks for sharing your Vampire Weekend outfit! :) Very fresh and Spring-y, especially love the gold Sperry’s.

Personally, I’m a sucker for So Delicious coconut milk yogurt. Any flavor. Any time. It’s also really good frozen as a dessert or mixed with overnight oats.

Sadly, like you, most of my relationships are long distance. I’m in San Francisco and my boyfriend is in Sacramento and my best friends are in NYC, Sacramento & San Diego.

I like to exercise 4-5 days a week, and I walk every day. I mix it up though: 3-4 mornings of circuit training plus running, pilates or HIIT a couple afternoons a week. Weekends are for hiking, long walks and the occasional rock climbing trip. :)

Caity, those ‘fit pics were all for you! I haven’t had that So Delicious yogurt in ages! It is really fantastic; I wish it had some protein in there! Wahhh I hope we get out of the LDR-everything soon! Lastly, I am with you on weekend workouts– I love hikes or long bike rides!

What’s your favorite type and brand of yogurt?: All about Greek – Fage 2% is my weapon of choice. I can’t do fat free, but I’m also a tank and enjoy the taste/texture of sour cream, haha.
Do you and your BFF live in the same city or separate?: I have a city (college) BFF and two hometown BFFs, one who lives in Boston and another who happens to still live in CT, and I MISS them like cray! We have marathon phone catch-ups and text throughout the week, but it’s never enough.
How often do you exercise?: honestly, it depends on how burnt out I’m feeling. With my job, I often go out about 3-4 nights a work week, but I still set my alarm for 6 A.M. 3 times a week to get my sweat on in the morning, even if I’m out until midnightish. My bod craves movement, too, so I just fight through the tiredness and feel better in the end. A long run usually happens on Saturdays. 4 times a week is normal for me!

it’s a rough life.

my BFF moved away for university and it was seriously one of the hardest things i’ve ever had to cope with. but she’s flying into town for the weekend and i’m SO EXCITED TO SEE HER!!

also i didn’t know you were gluten-free!! how is Udi’s? i’ve tried their chocolate chip cookies at a friend’s house and they were actually really good.

Aww, Sharan, have a wonderful weekend with your BFF!!! That’s so exciting! I’m not totally gluten-free, just gluten-conscious…as in I’ve realized how I feel better at the end of the day when I’ve had very little of it. But I really enjoy Udi’s bread! Some gluten-free breads are extremely dense (millet, brown rice, namely) and this is light and fluffy! I also LOVE their chocolate chip cookies!

Greek yogurt + PB has been my fave thing this week, so delicious!!! Great alone or on top of waffles…

P.S. Gummy Tummies make an appearance in our house every holiday- they’re fabulous! Remind me of a childhood fave, Gushers, but even softer!

My favorite yogurt is definitely Fage Total 0%. The first time I tried it I thought it had spoiled because it was so tart. Now I can’t get enough of it.
