What’s one to wear to the office when it’s 84*F in March? Something pulled together, yet comfortable. Something nice but not stiff. Something that feels summery.
There’s a dog head in that pic. Oops.
I can tell you I’ll probably wear this at least five more times between now and when the weather turns cold for good again. If that will ever happen…
As I was taking pictures today (with a tripod), I was reminded of the image that made me get my haircut.
Do ya see it? I couldn’t resist Julia Stegner’s ‘do in the Spring 2012 Bally campaign. I’m fairly certain my hair is already getting longer, though.
Enough about hair! TALL GIRLS AROUND THE WORLD: Do you constantly have this problem with dresses and jackets?
No, my waist is not under my boobs. I’ve learned to completely disregard belt loops intended for one’s waist. (I’m embarrassed to say where I bought this dress. My mom and I have made fun of it for years. It rhymes with Less Yarn. It may not exist outside Ohio.)
I’m not keen on pictures of feet, but I have to share the sandals that will be on mine all summer. Sam Edelman Gigi in white.
I will not be adding “foot modeling” to my talent resume.
So what do you think? I’ve avoided style posts in the past because I don’t find my clothes interesting, just classic; I also repeat pieces every few weeks. However, I am constantly reading about fashion and it’s a part of my everyday life and I LOVE it. I ask you. More fashion posts: yay or nay? Hot or not? Do or don’t?
Ciao for now,
Kailey

Do, please!
that dress is super cute. and i did not know that less yarn was only in ohio
i say yes for the outfit posts! Also, please let me know if your company is hiring because i am on the job hunt. Also, i do capitalize my i’s when needed. (just realized that! lol!)
Loving that dress. Please send some of that smokin’ sunshine my way!
You did notice that you also appear to be wearing the same dress as Ms. Stegner, right?? I assume that was the point haha. Anyway, please do more fashion posts! The fact that your clothes are not “interesting” (which I’d disagree with) makes them more accessible. More like something I could see myself wearing. You should always do posts about something that interests YOU, because that’s what makes them interesting for readers. My two cents.
Cute dress! I like the fashion posts…i say yay.
Yes! More fashion posts! I have missed them!!!
More fashion posts and I think mamaj should always be your personal stylist.
How was dinner ?
Yes, MamaJ knows best! Dinner was good! I had kale salad with a delicious vinaigrette (I followed a recipe) and some non-chicken chicken fingers! And then Ben & Jerry’s Greek frozen yogurt in blueberry graham…it’s wonderful!
yes please!!!!!! i love seeing fashion posts, especially yours.
I would LOVE more fashion posts! Your style is so adorable and chic.
And I always have that problem with dresses and blouses! It’s so irritating. But, I love being tall so I can’t really complain. (:
I say YAY! The sandals are amazing. I just love the classic look of them. Goes with everything…
Very preppy look, classic kailey! Looks good on you
and yes, fashion posts are a yay!
Yes! As a fellow tall girl (I am 5 ft 10), I love to see what you put together!
Dress Barn!! I live in Minnesota just outside of Minneapolis and we have them here. I think the name of the store is so funny and laugh whenever I see one. I have been inside before and must say that I was surprised to find they had clothes that would be okay to wear outside of a hoedown.
You look so cute! Love the hair and dress. Don’t forget to post your meals and snacks too
!
Love those shoes!!! And nice pedicure! That color is so summery!
Yes yes for the fashion posts! I always want to do them, too, I love clothes!! And makeup/sunless tanner/nail polish reviews, etc. but I have strayed due to my male readers. But uhhhh you know what? My favorite blogs are the ones who have authors who are just THEMSELVES, whatever that may be! So I say, go for it!! I love those kinds of sandals, I have been rotating three pairs over the last warm week. And YAY for white before Mem Day! Whatta silly rule. I will be in Vegas SATURDAY and can’t wait to wear white dresses, white bikini, white cutoffs, white jeans…..
Love the whole outfit! Super cute!
Oh my feet are not going to be foot models ever, lol! I really don’t like feet!
My dad hates thong sandals like that, when we were little he never let my mom buy those for us or my mom wasn’t able to get any for her either. LOL! he just hated them and hates feet, haha!
Happy Wednesday! <3
Love it! Where is the dress from?
Ya!!! You know me, I’m always begging for more fashion shots! I even miss your skinny mirror that I’m very jealous of!
Caity, hahahaha I am seriously cracking up that you remember the skinny mirror! I love that thing!
uummmm thank goodness I’m not the only one with the pesky belt loop problem.
Dress Barn exists in both Tennessee and Alabama. I also occasionally buy dresses there though I am usually slightly ashamed to be doing so because their target clientele seems to be about 40years older than me. Also, I identify with the belt loop issues. I am a tall girl and I usually just take them off and belt in a more appropriate place.
LOVE that dress! With the right hem-length it would look perfect on us short girls too! (who have our own slew of problems with where manufacturers believe items should go)
Happy Spring!
I say yay!
haha don’t worry… we have Less Yarn in CT and MA too. I always make fun of it as well but one time went with my mom and realized *perhaps* some things could be kind of cute! Although usually not styled the way they have them
Seeing as how I’m 5’1, I have the exact OPPOSITE problem with belt loops! Oy. I have no torso; it’s true.
Love that shirt dress. I live in them at work in the spring—very comfortable, teacher chic (or at least that’s what I tell myself!)
I vote for more fashion! Always open for more inspiration – especially relatable style.
One of the few things I’ve ever borrowed from my mom was actually from DB – a random score.
We have a Dress Barn in SC as well… yay us!
And YES for more fashion posts!
You have great feet! Haha
Yes to more fashion posts!! You have such cute style and fashion posts are always fun! You also look JUST like the model except I think you are even prettier! And that dress is adorable! Jealous of your gorgeous weather though!
you are the cutest and i love your love for rap and your hippie weekend with DM’s parents and your love for carbs and your new everythingtarian self and that haircut and the fact your a grammarazi like me and your morning overnight oat bowls with PB and gchatting with you and your fabulous self.
mwah!

Amen sister. I am 5’9″ AND slightly long waisted, so I have that exact problem ALL THE TIME (that and shirts that just don’t look right because they are not long enough). Drives me insane!
Surprisingly, I’ve even seen Dress Barns in California, and have also mocked them mercilessly. Your cute dress makes me think again though
Yay for fashion posts…they’re some of my favorites of yours! While I like many fashion blogs, I get discouraged with some being a little too focused on being “high-fashion-y”…no, I cannot wear 5 inch heels while running around San Francisco in 300 dollar jeans thankyouverymuch. I LOVE fashion blogs, and the bloggers behind them, but again, many are more for inspiration and beauty than “ooooh I can work this type of outfit into my repertoire.” But cute dress and sandals? That, I can do!
Dressss Barnnn. It exists in Northern Virginia – and I’ve bought a dress there. But I totally went in with my mom pretending we were shopping for her. That one you got is supa cute! (My apologies if Dress Barn wasn’t the correct rhyming guess to Less Yarn
)
this is my first time commenting but I wanted to say I love your sandals, keep the fashion posts coming! And i’m super jealous you can wear fun stuff and flip flops to work, any tips for us gals who are stuck in suits and heels?
Katie, thank you! I’m interested to see just how strict your dress code is. Do you mind sending me a few more details so I can figure out where there’s room to play (or stretch the dress code a little)? That would be fantastic!
Sure! Basically, there are usually 1-3 days a week when a suit is necessary. The rest of the time is business professional, so typically slacks or a skirt with a nice sweater or button down. On Fridays we can wear khakis and a company polo (ick) or just the normal slacks/skirts/sweater combo. My issues are shoes (I work downtown and the pavement tears up heels) and making the business professional ‘look’ be young and fresh, not frumpy. Clearly I haven’t quite gotten the hang of this yet, any help would be much appreciated
I like the fashion posts. I always have problems with belts!!! Yea – we have Dress Barn in FL too – My MIL loves it.
Love your outfit! Yes, do it! I’m tall too, 5’10.5
