M.Day 2012

Hi, kittens! I am very much alive and well! Just not reporting about it so much on the blog. My life is in a state of flux right now, so I’m taking that time to recharge creatively and thing about what I want to do with SnackFace next.

For now, just silly posts about my days are what I’m going to stick to. Now that I’m an Instagram ho-fessional, I take pictures ALL the time. Hello, blogging material!

Memorial Day weekend was absolute perfection— a gorgeous mix of hanging with friends, enjoying some alone time (essential for Scorpios) and basking in the sunshine. On Monday I had a party to attend, but before I headed over I wanted to get in a workout.

The aftermath.

What did I do after a healthy breakfast, solid workout and light lunch? I drove to the party and drank a Moscato juice box.

Hello, I'm drunk.

And what does a buzzed girl with a blog named SnackFace do? Sits herself at the snack table. Clearly.

Owned the Fritos Scoops. #cleaneats #fitfluential #proof (I WISH. Wouldn't that be awesome?)

One must always balance salty with sweet.

Homemade cake balls that tasted like Little Debbie Zebra Cakes (aka DA BEST).

I promptly chugged liter after liter of water, which isn’t usually my style, but…it was a Monday after all.

Hours later, the crew and I headed to Oakley Pub & Grill, known for having the best burgers in Cincinnati. So I ordered fish tacos.

Blackened grouper with some killa avocado-cilantro sour cream. They could go for a non-GFS salsa, though.

At the very end of the day, after I’d washed the sunscreen and sour cream off, I fell into bed, thankful for the day and thankful for change. I also finally (finally!) am reading a novel that has sucked me in completely. I’ve been trying to get through The Paris Wife for months now. I don’t know whether it’s the slow, predictable story or the fact that I have zero connection with the protagonist, but I cannot get through that novel. This, on the other hand, is more my speed. Shoulda known.

And here I go, to bed, to curl up, to read, to be so very happy with where I’m going.

Ciao for now,

Kailey

SF is about snacking right? That will always be constant!

Sana, isn’t that the truth? You can take the girl out of SnackFace but you can’t take SnackFace out of the girl. Or something.

I’ve never had a good cake ball. Sad, very sad…

Monica, WHAT?! How is that possible! I feel as though I’ve never had a BAD cake ball!

Happy you’re seeing the bright side of change:) love your writing style! I imagine it’s just how you talk in “real life” and I appreciate that kind of realness! Holllaaaa!

Thanks, Sarah! That’s a huge compliment! How I write truly is how I talk…which some may find obnoxious, but that’s too bad for them. RIGHT?! (kidding…sort of)

haha. I’m right there with you! Lately I’ve caught myself thinking, “do I need to change who I am? or how I am? what am I doing wrong”….but then I slap myself, and realize that I am who I am, and I need to embrace it. People & things come and go, always. Quality over quantity always reigns true.

Love Joan Didion! Just finishing up The White Album in fact…which I highly recommend maybe just a milli-step behind Slouching Towards Bethlehem. So, so good.

love, love, love joan didion. funny that she drew you in. i take a lot of heat at book club for recommending her depressing work that i find spot on honest. i’ve only read her memoirs though so i’ll add this to my shelfari.

dashannon- I admit that I’ve wanted to read the memoirs before but put them back for fear of their being too depressing. But with such essential writing (from which I need to learn), I feel a Didion-a-thon coming on with my reading!

I love following your instagram! So much fun. I’m glad you’re focusing on you right now and doing the things that make you happy. That’s all that matters. (:

Oh, and I’m dying to get my hands on those wine juice-boxes. Love.

Moscato juice boxes?
These exist?!

Hillary- I’m calling them juice boxes, but perhaps wine carton is more appropriate? Nah, juice box sound better. They’re in the mixed cocktails/almost alcohol section at Kroger.

Moscato in a juice box? Fabulous!
Play as it Lays – I gotta say I’m easy to judge a book by it’s cover (and title) and this does look enticing…it’s time I pick up a book again!

That juice box looks dangerous AND delicious!! No pics of the ‘fit?? I would love to see what you’re wearing these days.

Greta, I was actually wearing a totally ridiculous outfit. A thin white tank top that has CMYK giraffes on it and turquoise tie-die shorts, all with a bikini underneath. And a hat to protect my face!

I’ve never even tried a cake ball before, but I would like to eat those from your screen. I may have to check out that book, I also tried to read the Paris Wife and couldn’t get half way through and tried 50 shades of grey and couldn’t get passed the awful writing or storyline, just not into it. I would also love to get my hands on the Moscato juice box!! Never seen that.
